SEMI and Photovoltaic Manufacturing

The worldwide photovoltaic market is exploding. Recent estimates project the global solar photovoltaic market in excess of $7 billion, growing to over $16 billion in 2012. SEMI is actively involved in helping this market grow and become more profitable for our members. SEMI members and other companies serving this market have expressed a need for:

  • Information on new technologies and supply chain players
  • More activity at SEMI events to help support market growth
  • Additional international standards that help reduce costs

Industry Standards

Join the SEMI PV Standards Committee

At the first SEMI Photovoltaic Committee meeting in early September 2006, executives from the PV industry gathered together to discuss where SEMI could contribute most to the growth of the PV industry. One of the major elements mentioned was the need for industry standards at the manufacturing equipment and materials level.
